Evaluating Information Visualizations

Since Summer 2016, I am working on vis evaluation methodologies to assess visualization systems for measures beyond usability. I am collaborating with Sandia National Labs to create and validate value heuristics which illustrate the utility of a visualization and allow comparison among visualization systems. Further, I am creating and evaluating a survey instrument to help visualization designers to

Evaluating Tablet Visualization Systems

Since Spring 2016, I have designed, conducted and analyzed data for 4 lab studies with a total of 60 users under the guidance of Prof. John Stasko at Information Interfaces Lab . Three of the four studies were focused on summative evaluation of a tablet information visualization system to understand how presentation and interaction design strategies influence system learnability.
